2014 Electric Cars on the Market

Automakers are manufacturing more and more plug-in models, with 26 expected in 2014. Some of them are sold only in places like California, and are known as compliance cars. The Chevy Spark EV is limited to California and Oregon. A majority of plug-ins, however, are available nationally.

A PHEV is a plug-in hybrid that has a gas engine or generator and an electric motor.

A BEV is a battery electric vehicle, or pure electric, run on battery power alone.
